Effective Systems

Time is of the Essence

School improvement efforts in the U.S. should focus on rethinking the use of time. In many other countries, teachers spend about half of their workday in the classroom and the other half working collaboratively with other professionals, meeting individually with students and families, or investing in professional growth. When teachers have input into how the school day is organized, they are more likely to participate purposefully and meaningfully, apply what they learn to the classroom, and be enthusiastic.
