Stories of Power, Agency, Resilience, and Kinship
SPARK
A series curated by Vivian Tseng, FCD President and CEO, and Hirokazu Yoshikawa, University Professor, Department of Applied Psychology, NYU Steinhardt
In 2025-2026, the Foundation is publishing Stories of Power, Agency, Resilience, and Kinship. Our authors—from academia, advocacy, organizing, and beyond—will share what it means to meet this moment with courage, clarity, creativity, and conviction as they work to protect and support children in immigrant families.
Each piece in this series will illuminate how individuals, communities, or organizations resist oppression with the hope that emerges, not from naive optimism but, from the daily choice to act, build, push back, or hold the line. Our ancestors fought for justice in immigration policy, civil rights, education, healthcare, and more. Today, we carry their work forward for future generations. We hope you will find as much hope and inspiration in these stories as we have in bringing them together.
