Our Mission is to harness the power of research to ensure that all young children benefit from early learning experiences that affirm their individual, family, and community assets, fortify them against harmful consequences arising from poverty, racism, prejudice, and discrimination, and strengthen their developmental potential.
For over 120 years, we have sought to support all children in reaching their full potential. We have a long history of championing children who are marginalized in society and have earned a reputation as a small organization with a “big voice” and outsized impact in advocating for the nation’s children. In 2025, we launched a strategic framework to advance social justice for young children and build a future where every child can thrive.
