This policy brief that outlines the findings of an in depth PreK-3rd assessment training program for school district administrators in New Jersey.

The brief shows that when properly used and understood, assessment data can create better schools, better teachers and better readers. However, the assessment alone will not improve practice. It is vital to develop strong, knowledgeable early learning instructional leaders, who can implement and interpret the data from an assessment system.
