New York, NY — The Foundation for Child Development (FCD) is proud to announce new grants aimed at advancing the well-being of young children marginalized by racism, xenophobia, and economic inequality.
As the Foundation explores what it means to pursue social justice for young children, it is pleased to support learning grants for parent organizing. Recognizing the critical role of parents and family members in children’s development, particularly those affected by injustice, FCD has allocated grants totaling $375,000 to: United Parent Leaders Action Network, Mothering Justice, Community Change, Parent Voices California, and MomsRising. These grants will support parents affected by injustice in influencing state and federal policy for the benefit of our country’s children and families.
Continuing its longstanding commitment to fostering research for real-world change, FCD has awarded a $400,000 grant to support the Transforming Evidence Funders Network (TEFN), an international network of 80 funders dedicated to uniting research, policy, and practice to improve societal outcomes. This grant will enable TEFN to transition from its initial start-up phase into a sustainable funder network better equipped to catalyze meaningful change through research-informed initiatives.
In addition, FCD is sunsetting its 10-year initiative focused on supporting the capacity and status of the early care and education (ECE) workforce, which launched in 2015. The Foundation is supporting scholarship for the ninth cohort of early-career researchers studying the workforce through its Young Scholars Program. As 2024 cohort awardees, Dr. Saili Kulkarni’s and Dr. Demi Gabrielle Siskind’s each received $225,000 supporting their innovative research to support more just disciplinary practices and professional development among teachers.
FCD is also providing a one-year grant of $100,000 to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) to strengthen this practitioner organization’s alliances with families in order to better advocate for equity in early care and education.
